Free Master’s in Renewable Energy in Germany

One of the global priorities of the 21st century is to tackle CO2 emissions from fossil fuels and replace them with sources of energy that are cleaner, sustainable and renewable.
The European Commission directives have set a 20% reduction in the use of fossil fuel in Europe by 2020. This means that there are business incentives for developing alternative energy resources and technologies as a substitute for fossil fuel technology.
With the expected global growth in the renewable energy sector, there will be a crucial need for qualified and skilled engineers with specialist knowledge of the relevant technology.
Currently, almost all the states in Germany do not charge tuition fees even to non-EU students. International students can therefore take advantage of this opportunity to earn a free master's degree in Renewable Energy, in English, from one of its tuition-free universities. International students get to study for free, learn a new language and also have the opportunity to travel around Europe during the semester breaks.

Technische Hochschule Köln---MSc in Renewable Energy Management (REM)

The MSc programme Renewable Energy Management focuses on renewable energy systems and energy efficiency and their potential for tropical and subtropical societies. With a deliberate energy system perspective, the focal area enables the students to analyse technological and economic potentials of the technology choices as well as social and environmental repercussions in the natural environment of the tropics and subtropics and in the socio-economic context of countries of low and medium development. REM students get acquainted with renewable energy management related topics such as bio-energy and geothermal, solar energy, wind energy and hydropower, energy management, and others.

Flensburg University of Applied Sciences---Wind Engineering (MA)

The Master's degree programme Wind Engineering is designed to meet the demands of the wind industry and to prepare our graduates for a successful career. This involves training interdisciplinary generalists with specialised skills in electrical, mechanical or civil engineering. But above all, we want our students to be able to understand and handle classic and new wind turbines and wind power plants in a system-oriented manner. Our graduates acquire skills in the design, construction and operation of these systems and their components.

Hamburg University of Applied Sciences---Master of Engineering in Renewable Energy Systems

The international Master's programme in Renewable Energy Systems looks at the technology and engineering of wind, solar and bio-energy systems as well as downstream systems for energy transformation and distribution. The programme’s focus is on systems engineering. In addition, graduates learn the techniques of process simulation and can also develop their business and management skills. The programme is made up of two semesters of theory and practical lab work and a six-month Master’s thesis in industry.
