7 Free Master’s in Micro and Nano Systems in Europe

Micro and Nanosystems products are getting more and more interdisciplinary and complex, involving key technologies from all engineering disciplines and beyond. Therefore, process and methods from engineering sciences, physics and mathematics can be used to work on important issues in the exploration and development of new integrated systems and respective innovations.
Tuition-free European countries like Germany and Norway offer international students the opportunity to earn a master's degree in Micro and Nano Systems, in English, irrespective of their country of origin, for free. International students can study for free and also get the opportunity to travel around Europe, learn a new language, and make some lifelong friends. It's amazing that this free education is extended even to non-EU students.

7) University of Kassel---MSc Nanoscience

Within the programme, two of the three focus areas of nanochemistry, nanophysics, and nanobiology are selected. Further compulsory modules comprise methods of nanostructure analysis, a preparatory project, and the Master's thesis module. Required elective modules can be chosen from chemistry, physics, biology, and engineering.

6) University of Oslo---Informatics: Nanoelectronics and Robotics (master's two years)

The master’s programme Nanoelectronics and Robotics will provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop application specific data and electronic systems from basic building blocks implemented in nanoelectronics, to complex systems consisting of both software and hardware for demanding signal processing and control.

5) University College of Southeast Norway---Master of Micro and Nano Systems Technology

The studies are specialised within the field of micro and nano systems technology and are aimed at providing both a general basic competence and a degree of specialised competence required by the micro and nano systems industry. Students from the master course will after a completed course be able to carry out specialised and general tasks related to the field of micro and nano systems technology.

4) Technische Universität Chemnitz---Master of Science in Micro and Nano Systems

This English-language Master's programme covers a wide range of subjects with focus on future challenges in the fields of micro and nano systems.
The courses provide world-class, future-oriented education in design, manufacturing, characterisation and integration of miniaturised components into engineering systems.

3) Technische Universität Dresden---Master of Science in Nanoelectronic Systems

The ongoing miniaturisation in the microelectronics industry gives rise to systems that are now being referred to as nanoelectronic systems. Such systems offer a variety of applications, but their design and implementation are becoming increasingly complex.

2) University of Bremen---MSc in Control, Microsystems, Microelectronics

The goal of the Control, Microsystems, Microelectronics Master Program is to provide an environment for students to acquire the required knowledge (from both the technical and organizational context) that is necessary for understanding modern automation and communication systems and their relevant components.

1) Hamburg University of Technology---MSc in Microelectronics and Microsystems

Microelectronics has not only triggered the enormous growth in information and communication technologies, but it has also become an important factor in many other areas. In recent years, technologies originally developed for microelectronics have been applied increasingly to the fabrication of miniaturised systems in electromechanical, electrooptical, analytical or biomedical applications.
