9 Free Master’s in Information Technology and Automation in Europe

Information Technology (IT), the convergence of computer and network technology, is a highly transformative discipline. It touches nearly all aspects of our lives: the way we work, the way we learn, the way we communicate, the way we socialize, the way we entertain ourselves. Where would we be without it? These days, success in any occupational field, be it law, medicine, business, education, entertainment, finance, etc., requires a command of IT. For certain, IT is and will remain the foundation of the global economy for years to come. The bureau of labor statistics has consistently ranked the IT profession as one of the fastest growing professions. IT offers fascinating, mission-critical, high-paying jobs with the potential for multiple career paths.
Automation and control are pervasive enabling technologies which are found in almost any modern technical system, in particular in production and transportation system. Robots are key components in modern factories and will increasingly be used in the service sector and for unmanned operations in hostile environments. Thus there is a growing need for engineers who can design, maintain and upgrade those complex automation systems.
Tuition-free European countries like Germany and Norway offer international students the opportunity to earn a master's degree in Information Technology and Automation, in English, irrespective of their country of origin, for free. International students can study for free and also get the opportunity to travel around Europe, learn a new language, and make some lifelong friends. It's amazing that this free education is extended even to non-EU students.

9) University of Münster---Master of Science in Information Systems

3) University College of Southeast Norway---Master of Science, Industrial IT and Automation

Education and research in Systems and Control Engineering is given high priority at Telemark University College (TUC).There are strong links to the local process industry which is part of the largest industrial cluster in Norway, as well as to regional and national industry. The local industry includes production of cement, polymers, fertilisers, and different industrial gases, as well as systems industry. In addition to the research activity at TUC, strong industrial research centres are also located in the region.

2) Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg---Master of Science in Autonomous Systems

Autonomy, adaptability and network integration are characteristic features of complex IT systems. Conventional control systems and architectures are no longer adequate to realize the potential of these technologies completely, nor are they sufficient to master the complexity of such systems. The solution is to design selected components as "autonomous systems" which can act mainly by themselves without external control most of the time.

1) TH Köln (University of Applied Sciences)---Master of Engineering in Automation & IT

Automation technology has been influenced primarily by developments in information technology (IT) for a quarter of a century now. These developments are of ever-increasing significance both in the areas of hardware and software. The international Master's programme Automation & IT is a fully-accredited programme with an innovative interdisciplinary focus. With respect to the above-mentioned trend, it covers the areas of both industrial automation and computer science.
